14, PRINCE'S GATE LONDON S. W. 7 TREMAN 13th October, 1947. ARCHIVES NATIONAL AND RECORDS SERVICE" E Dear Mr. President, I am taking the liberty of writing to you about a wedding present for Princess Elizabeth. The State Department has made enquiries about a suitable gift. Mr. Douglas and I wanted to give a thoroughly American present, and we have chosen one dozen glass plates made by Steuben with Audobon birds engraved on them. At the same time, Mr. Houghton of Steuben brought an exquisite bowl of truly American design whi ch I have here. I am enclosing a picture and its story written by Mr. Waugh, the designer. The price is $200. If this interests you I can deliver it to Buckingham Palace for you. Perhaps your card and Mrs. Truman's could be sent to me. If it is not of interest I can return the bowl to Steuben. With all best wishes, Very sincerely, Fequy 3.Dnlas
