The President
RECORDS of
Your letter about your interview with Jim Patton on
cooperatives is interesting. There is no attempt on
my part to injure the cooperatives. There may be
some tax inequities that should be taken care of.
1 have discussed the matter thoroughly and completely
with the Secretary of Agriculture and with the Secretary
of the Treasury. It seems to me that it would be well
for you to get these two gentlemen together and explain
the political implication of the wrong approahb to this
situation.
