NEMORANDUM yoa M3. KARL R. BELDETSEN
Supplementing ary letters to you of 4: August 1952 from Seoul, 12
August 1952 from Tolyyo, and 13 August 1952 en route to Honolulu, and
supplementing the 9-page record of my itinerazy submitted to you on
20 August 1952, I will bay in this to outline some of the
highlights of the policy discussions that I-was privileged to have in
Sapan and Kores. Likewise, I will try to outline to you my most salient
impressions.
I GEAERAL IMPRESSIONS
1. As I made clear to you in my three letters, I was
given a. wonderful reception everywhere as your reprazenta'tive. Your
letter of introduction which I carried to General Clark paved the way
adnirably in Tokyo, and General Clark to turn paved the way for me,
on the of your letter, with Cenerals Van Fleet and Herren in
Korea; and, likewise, in Tokyo with his Chief of Staff and with CG, FEAP
and Com NAVFE. The reception everywhere was the utmost in courtesy
and helpfulness, and all the discussions vere intimate.
2. In brief these are the things that stand out among my
strongest impressions:
