Dear Cap:
I'11 see what I can do with the Committee on the Hawaii
situation. I hope we can get it through.
I am particularly anxious that you make it perfectly
plain to the Congress that John L. has never been inter-
ested in safety until he could use it for demagoguery.

understand that Dr. Sayers, whom we have asked to
remain until Dr. Boyd is confirmed, has been giving
Mr. Lewis some underhand help. I had heard it before
I saw the article in Pearson's column this morning.
Maybe you had better take a look at that situation -
it is possible that you may not want to keep the Doctor
after you know the facts.
