glass to our distinguished guest, His Royal Highness
the Regent of Iraq, the first Arab sovereign to visit
the United States. His presence here is welcome, not
only as evidence of the ever-increasing ties between
the United States and the countries of the Near East,
but also because it gives us an opportunity to express
to him in person our appreciation for the contribution
of the Arab world to our common civilization.
