DEPARTMENT OF STATE OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY WASHINGTON June 18, 1951 MEMORANDUM FOR MR. HOPKINS THE WHITE HOUSE By memorandum of June 6 there was transmitted from the White House for delivery through the Department's channels a signed letter from President Truman to President Weizmann of Israel. Before the letter was despatched it was noted that an inadvertent error had been made in the last full paragraph of the President's letter in which a reference was made to the third year rather than correctly the fourth year of Israel's in- dependence. I am enclosing a corrected draft of the letter to President Weizmann as well as the signed original in which the error occurred. Would it be possible to request the President to sign a corrected letter? "NATIONAL ARCHIVES RECORDS SERVICE W J. McWilliams Director, Executive Secretariat Attachments: As stated.
