Saturday evening had informal dinner and spent
four hours with Pres Peron which will be subject of
despatch Washington. Just before leaving, following
conversation took place. Pres Peron said, "I am
sorry that I was unable to meet personally Pres Truman.
The one and only subject of conversation that I had in
mind was Communism". I said, "That is a subject in
which Pres Truman is very much interested". Pres Peron
then said, "Please assure Pres Truman that our Nation
will go all the way in meeting his views on this sub-
ject and we would like to make an agreement between our
two nations" (see point one of Embtel 985, Aug 8). .
I
said, "I will convey your message to Pres Truman".
I made no further comment knowing that this is an im-
portant matter of international policy and that FonMin
