E. O. 11652, Sec. 3(E) and 5(D) or (E)
OFFICE OF THE CHIEF OF STAFF
OSD letter, April 12, 1974
By NLT-
WASHINGTON 25, D.C.
HC
2 NARS Date 7-15-75
June 20, 1946
Dear Mr. President:
I have arranged that Generalissimo issue an order to his troops
continuing suspension of all aggressive action, that is, advances,
attacks and pursuits, until noon of June 30th for purpose of per-
mitting further time to negotiate the matters referred to in his
original fifteen day suspension order, which would otherwise terminate
Saturday June 22nd noon.
Also, there appears fair prospect for some government concessions
on original stipulation regarding north China. I had Chou En Lai here
from three to five this afternoon and spent five to seven with Generalis-
simo. Tomorrow, Friday, I have Generalissimo at 9:00 o'clock in morning
and Chou En Lai at eleven. There is a wide gap to be closed but I now
think that I have some chance of success.
(sgd.) G. C. Marshall
