They are returning to their posts as a result of their conversation with the President with higher morale and will, I am sure, be more effective spokesmen for the American Government in the Near East. I wish to thank you particularly for the assistance which you rendered in this matter. In accordance with the suggestion made by you, I am sending herewith for the records a copy of the informal statement which Mr. Wadsworth, our Minister to Syria and Lebanon, made to the President on be- half of his three colleagues from the Near East.
