- 2 - Secret unofficial dispatches received in this country throw additional light on the subject of British participation. 1. British Officers and the Arabs. Cable information received in New York on the morning of Wednesday, May 26th, reports that the two Iraqi pilots shot down in the Jordan Valley admitted that before their take-off they were 5. briefed by British air officers. "NATIONAL ARCHIVES AND RECORDS 2. Military Advice. SERVICE" A cable received from Paris on the evening of Tuesday, May 25th, furnishes information supplied by diplomatic sources on the Quai D'Orsay (persons not further identified) to this effect: before Egypt's entry into the war the British supplied Egypt with disposition of all Haganah forces, and stated categorically that Haganah would have no hope of getting planes or artillery. Further British assured Egypt that her forces could pass through the Suez Canal zone without hindrance. 3. British Direction of Fighting at Jerusalem. Cable received from Palestine on the morning of May 26th reports the interception of "radioed order in English by British officer directing Arab Legion artillery fire Jerusalem." 4. British Supply of War Materials to Arabs. (1) Information cabled from Cairo on May 15th, described in cable as coming from "an important Egyptian petrol man, the representative of Aramaco in Egypt.', is to the following
