SECRET
IN THE NAME OF ALLAH THE MERCIFUL THE COMPASSIONATE
From Abdul Aziz bin Abdulrahman al Feisal al Saud, King
of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,
To His Excellency President Harry S. Truman, President
of the Republic of the United States of America,
Excellency:
I have received with pleasure from Mr. Raymond Hare, the new
Ambassador of the United States, Your Excellency's kind letter dated
October 31, 1950. I was delighted with the friendly spirit of that
letter which you have illustrated very well in referring to the common
interests and the sound aims which are tying our two countries together
for the benefit of world peace. In thanking Your Excellency for your
appreciation of my personal attitude in this gloomy crisis, I would
like to assure Your Excellency that I, together with my country, will
continue to exert every possible effort in supporting the principles
of justice and right in every instance and circumstance. It makes
me happy to see that the cooperation which exists between my country
and the United States is growing increasingly in the field of economy
and development. There is no doubt that such cooperation is a result
of the support of your great predecessor, the late President Roosevelt,
and of Your Excellency's own assistance. I deeply hope that Your
Excellency's support to my country and the understanding of Your
Excellency and your nation of the national hopes and aims of the Arabs
will help the United States in supporting the rights of the Arabs and
their legitimate interests in order that we, all the Arabs and your-
selves, will be always united together, in supporting right and justice
all over the world.
In closing I would like to thank Your Excellency for the assurances
given in your letter to the effect that no threat may be made towards
our Kingdom without it being the immediate consideration of the United
States to prevent aggression or threat thereof. This, in addition to
the previous assurances given by Your Excellency, will strengthen the
cordial relations which we are endeavoring to maintain between us and
Your Excellency and the nation of the United States.
I am very grateful for Your Excellency's inquiry about my health
which is, thanks be to God, very satisfactory, and in return I wish that
you will always be happy and in good health, and I express my best wishes
for the United States under the flag of freedom and justice.
Issued by our Royal Palace at Riyadh this fifteenth day of Rabia' al
Thani 1370 A.H. corresponding to this fourteenth day of January, 1951, A.D.
