IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 17, 1948
The President tonight sent the following message to Countess Folke
Bernadotte, Dragongarden, Sweden
"Mrs. Truman and I send you our most profound sympathy in the tragic
loss of your distinguished husband. His death will be received with a deep
sense of grief by the people of the United States and all other peace
loving people everywhere.
