IMMEDIATE RELEASE IMMEDIATE RELEASE REAR PLATFORM REMARKS OF THE PRESIDENT T SPRINGVILLE, UTAH, SEPTEMBER 21, 1948, 3:50 p. m., m.s.t. Thank you, Governor. It is a pleasure indeed, and an un- expected pleasure. This was nnt a scheduled stop, but I am V ery happy that we were able to stop and say Hello to you. I have been very much intrigued by the beauty of this valley as we came across it. They tell me that it is one of the most productive in the country, and for that reason you are in- terested in the policies of the Federal Government towards such projects as makes the fertility of this valley possible. They are your vital interests and you must survey them and then use your best judgment to get a job done. If you do that, then you will continue to be prosperous. It has been the policy of the Democratic Party to be for the people. It has been the policy of the Republican Party to be for the special interests. Now, bear that in mind when you go to the polls on the second day of November, and be sure that you get that ticket in the box and mark the Democratic column, and then the country will be sife for another four years. # # # # # (AFTER RECEIVING GIFT) : This is a present (three large bunches of celery) from the Utah Cooperatives. If the Republicans have their way, they will tax them out of business. TRUMAN NATIONAL ARCHIVES AND RECORDS SERVICE"
