Weather: Multiple stratified layers, overcast, visibility five miles in rain. Clearing toward end of period, according to U.S. Ambas- sador Muccio. 2. Soviet participation: Negative. 3. Operations: a. U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff informed CINCFE at 1130/1(EDT) that the President has ordered a naval blockade of the entire Korean coast. Primary purpose is to prevent movement by sea of forces and supplies for use in operations against South Korea. (UNCLASSIFIED) Care should be taken to keep well clear of the coastal waters of Manchuria and the U.S.S.R. (SECRET) b. There are no reports of contact between U.S. ground forces and the enemy. The 24th Infantry Division has been ordered to move a delaying force of two rifle companies under battalion command, augmented by two 4.2 mortar platoons, one 75 mm. recoilless rifle platoon, and six bazooka teams by air on 1 July to Pusan to report to ADCOM for orders, Immediately upon landing, the delaying force is to advance to the north by all possible means to contact the enemy advancing south from Seoul and delay his advance.
