U.S. NAVY
1. Canadian Naval Headquarters have issued instructions that
beginning 0001Z, 14 July, TG 214.4 (DD's CAYUGA, SIOUX, ATHABASKAN)
is to be under the operational control of CINCFE for operations in relation
to the invasion of South Korea. The ships are presently in Pearl Harbor.

m. On 13 July (KT) one officer, 4 bluejackets and 5 marines from
the USS JUNEAU (CLAA119) landed on the Korean coast 30 miles north of
Tanchon (40, 28N - 128, 54E) and rigged two sixty pound demolition char-
ges in a 300 foot railway tunnel. The charges were set to explode with
passage of the first train. No opposition was encountered and the party
returned to the ship. (SECRET - ONI)
n. On 13 July at 1800 (KT) JUNEAU (CLAA) and DE HAVEN (DD)
bombarded the coast road in the Ulchin area. Results were unobserved
as they were firing on reverse slopes. In the Samchok area a petroleum
storage area was bombarded, large fires were visible from 15 miles away
one hour later. Rail yards at Songjong and the harbor area of Bokuko were
also shelled but fog prevented observation of results. (FECOM)(SECRET)

COMNAVFE has assumed operational control of ROK naval
forces, designated a Commander, Fleet Activities at Pusan and assigned
ROK vessels patrol, escort and mine sweeping duties south of the daily

U.S. AIR FORCE
p. On 13 July, B-29's bombed the marshaling yards at Wonsan.
Results unobserved because of weather. On 14 July fighter and bomber
attacks reportedly destroyed 9 tanks, 47 trucks, 7 other vehicles, and one
field gun, and damaged 12 tanks, 62 trucks, two other vehicles, and two
field guns. A highway bridge and a railway bridge were also destroyed.

q. Fighter and bomber aircraft will continue to provide close
support and interdiction. B-29's will concentrate on road and rail junctions,
bridges, passes, etc., in the areas of Umsong, Ghanghowan, Chechon, Chang-
ho, and Changju. Radar bombing will be conducted in the event visual bomb-
ing cannot be accomplished. (D/I-USAF) (SECRET)
4. Enemy Capability:
The enemy's over-all strategy remains the same as they continue
in a position to exert heavy pressure in the western sector and to continue
