Enemy fire was reported accurate but no damage was sustained by BATAAN,
HMS BELFAST (CL) closed to support BATAAN with apparently effective
fire without enemy reply. BATAAN patrolled off Haeju on 1 August. HMS
CHARITY (DD) and ROK 702 patrolled off Kunsan. BELFAST patrolled
off shore from Kunsan to Haeju. No sea traffic was observed in west

t. During the night of 31 July-1 August, USS TOLEDO (CA),
MANSFIELD (DD) and COLLETTE (DD) patrolled the east coast and con-
ducted shore bombardment in the area of Yongdok on missions assigned

u. During the morning of 2 August, HMS COSSACK (DD) and
COCKADE (DD) bombarded Mokpo with 2 P2V Neptunes as air spot.

V. USS DE HAVEN (DD) and SWENSON (DD) relieved COLLETTE

W. USS HIGBEE (DDR) and ROK naval units patrolled close in-
shore Namhae Island to prevent flanking amphibious movement by North
Korean forces reportedly on the island. (COMNAVFE) (SECRET)

X. USAF claims for 2 August, based on incomplete reports, in-
clude: 6 tanks, 46 trucks, 2 locomotives, 16 box cars, 9 other vehicles,
3 field guns, and one bridge destroyed; 4 tanks, 28 trucks, 13 locomotives,
111 box cars, 8 other vehicles, one field gun and three bridges damaged.

y. On 3 August, one B-29 group will attack 31 bridges with the
marshaling yards at Pyongyang as secondary target. The other two groups
