At 0930/03 (KT)\n3d North Korean Division's troops converged on Kumchon from the north and\nthe west (FECOM) (SECRET)\nd. The 3d North Korean Division is operating along the Kumchon-Waegwan\naxis; the 2d Division along the Sinchon-Sonsan axis; and the 15th along the Sang-\nju-Uisong axis.\ne. North Korean troops occupied Hamchang, Yechon, and Andong. Eight\nmiles least of Hamchang, the enemy attempted to ferry tanks across the Naktong\nRiver. By aggressive patrolling, the friendly forces regained contact with ele-\nments of the 7th and 8th North Korean Divisions. (FECOM) (SECRET)\nf. The 5th North Korean Division was driven from Yongdok as friendly\nforces occupied the city. ROK Forces continued to engage the enemy two miles\nnorth of Yongdok. An unidentified enemy regiment advanced to the village of\nChinan, approximately 20 miles northwest of Yongdok. (FECOM) (SECRET)\ng. A Navy P2V on a reconnaissance flight along the Korean east coast,\non the night of 3-4 August, was attacked by night fighters, presumably enemy.\nDetails of the attack have not been received. (CINCFE) (SECRET)\nh. An aircraft from the 22d Bomb Wing reported sighting a submarine\nat 1035/03 (KT) at 34-15N, 130-05E. The sighting was evaluated by COMNAVFE\nas a possible submarine. Friendly Situation:\nGROUND\na. 1st U.S. Cavalry Division: The Division withdrew to a position west\nof Waegwan; covered the withdrawal of the 24th RCT; then withdrew east of the\nNaktong River and organized defense sectors as follows: 5th Cavalry RCT\nholds a line from 4 miles north of Waegwan to Waegwan. The 8th Cavalry\nRCT is on a line from Waegwan to a point on the Naktong River about 14 miles\nsouth. The 7th Cavalry RCT is on the left of the 8th Cavalry RCT on a line\nsouth following the river to a point 13 miles north of Changnyong, (FECOM)\n(SECRET)\nb. 2d U.S. Infantry Division: Advance Headquarters is at Taegu.
