Weather: Scattered high clouds at 14000 feet with low clouds at 3000 feet in the afternoon. Forecast: Generally clear at night with scattered low clouds during morning. 2. Soviet Participation: Negative. 3. Enemy Situation: a. Heavy fighting continues in the Chinju area. Enemy forces are offering strong resistance in the vicinity of Kogan and in isolated pockets at Chindong and 6 miles northwest. An estimated 2 enemy regiments are opposing the advance of the 5th U.S. Infantry Regiment. Enemy positions were penetrated to the vicinity of Pongam. Isolated enemy resistance was reported opposing the attack by the 35th U.S. Infantry Regiment in the vicinity of Sagong. (FECOM) (SECRET) b. The enemy succeeded in reinforcing its bridgehead to an estimated 2 battalions 6 miles west of Yongsan. This crossing is being engaged by friendly forces in an attempt to eliminate the bridgehead. An enemy con- centration of unknown strength is reported in the vicinity of the ferry crossing about 7 miles north-northwest of Yongsan, An estimated enemy artillery battalion is reported about two miles east of Chogye. (FECOM) (SECRET) c. An enemy company is reported on the east side of the Naktong River about 2 miles south of Waegwan.
