Washington, D. C. June 13, 1945 4:50pm CORCORAN to ED FOLEY. C--I don't know whether JOSH LEE got in touch with you. I wanted to tell you what happened. F--No, he didn't. C--The Honorable HANNEGAN has been out playing golf. They've been trying to reach him all afternoon. And finally I suggested that the thing to do was to have HANNEGAN'S secretary get directly in touch with FATHER FITZGERALD to see if she could hook him up with HANNEGAN. Now I think that's been done. I wish you would check up, will you? F--All right. C--Will you call FATHER FITZGERALD now and then call me back? F--I will. C--O.K. You know the amount of pushing and hollering you have to do; to make a government work is only parallelled by the amount of buttoning and unbuttoning you have to do to raise children. And you're God-damned lucky they're at the stage yours were at two days ago. All right, when they button and unbutton themselves. F--O.K., Tom, thanks. (Laughing) 4:55pm CORCORAN to "JUDGE" The Judge told him that he had talked to HARRY and that HARRY would be glad to talk to CLAUDE PEPPER and him (the Judge). HARRY had explained the thing to him. CORCORAN said he talked to CLAUDE and gave him this message from ED FOLEY. CORCORAN said that he talked to CLAUDE's secretary to make the appoint- ment for sometime tomorrow, convenient to PEPPER. CORCORAN suggested that the Judge call CLAUDE's secretary for the appoint- ment and then call HARRY WHITE to let him know when it would be. O.K. CORCORAN said that he was trying to reach HANNEGAN, who is still in town, so that's fixed up. He also called ED (FOLEY?) and told him. 5:41pm CORCORAN to Mr. McGRANERY (Justice Department) CORCORAN kidded the latter about going out to Hot Springs to waste the Government's time. McGRANERY insisted that it was to waste his time. -I'll try to drop down to see you tomorrow, but I wanted to get this message to you very quickly. I had a talk with that guy. He told me he was just over a barrel. The fellow you thought of that belonged with K. He said that was traded out. Uh, that he's in a situation where there was nothing else he could do. That he'd have to that
