- 8 - he put me off till Thursday. TOM asked if he knew what it was all about. Yes. TOM asked if he knew before he (CLARK) spoke to him about this. CLARK said he spoke to him the other day and gave him a general idea; he said he could give him more time on Thursday and when CLARK calls on Thursday he can make a definite appointment. CLARK said he was very gracious. CLARK said he spoke to BROWNELL (Phon.) and latter said they are in one hell of a mess on fats and oil. TOM asked how far he (CLARK) got with "CLINT. " CLARK said he spoke to him on the telephone re appoint- ment. CLARK said he spoke to BROWNELL later in Boston and latter said UNRRA is in there and the various claimants. CLARK said he spoke to CROWLEY and they are in a mess re fats and oils over quota for third quarter. CLARK said he asked if he should force it on ANDERSON on Thursday. BROWNELL said he didn't see how he could help but. TOM said they have to get results. TOM said he spoke to "BILL" about this this evening and thinks they have to slugg this with everything they have and added that he is wondering if he should call BENNETT in or not. TOM said if they miss on Thursday they will be in another week. TOM said he may talk with CLINT. CLARK said he thought not as he is of the opinion he will do what he can; added that he called back right now today. TOM asked what "LEO" said. CLARK said he would check up and call back but never did. CLARK said he has a meeting in the morning so TOM should skip him; asked if TOM had spoken to TEX GOLDSCHMIDT (ARTHUR E. GOLDSCHMIDT, Division of Power, Department of Interior?). No. TOM said he would speak with him tomorrow morning. CLARK said not to press on it; just wanted to know what he said to NUTTEN (Phon.) before he contacts GAITEN (Phon.). O.K. CLARK will see him along about 10:00 o'clock. O.K.
