    "ocrText": "Washington, D. C.\nCO SUMMARY\nAugust 21, 1945\nNo pertinent activity as CORCORAN was out of town.\nAugust 22, 1945\n10:00 AM MR. MONROE OPPENHEIMER to secretary to tell CORCORAN that he sent out the\nletter confirming the telephone advice he had given GURWERTZ (phonetic)\nand the letter set out the number of the task force and the military\npermit and he asked that prompt action be taken. OPPENHEIMER said he\nhasn't pushed any further but he gave the letter to GURWERTZ and will\nsend a copy to CORCORAN.\n11:30 AM\nCORCORAN, in New York, to JACK NASON. He asked if NASON knows whether\nMAC WRIGHT found out anything about the Owens-Illinois \"labor business.\"\nNo. CORCORAN then said he saw where W.P.B. is throwing off all priority\ncontrol and he wondered if that includes \"this textile business.\" NASON\nsaid it includes the general rayon order but not the particular one\n\"we're\" working on. CORCORAN asked, \"How about the Inca (phonetic) thing?\"\nand NASON said they haven't heard, but that \"M-328, which is the one\nwe're working under, will be the last one cut off.\" CORCORAN then said\nhe will be back about 5 o'clock today. He asked DE FALCO for messages\nand she said ARNOLD KIEHN had called from New York and that EDWARD PRICHARD\nhad called from the Treasury Department. CORCORAN said he had talked to\nKIEHN and he asked DE FALCO to call ED FOLEY and tell him that CORCORAN\nis going to call him from New York. O.K.\n3:20 PM\nCORCORAN to DE FALCO advising that he is leaving New York by Eastern Air\nLines at 5:05 tonight. He told her to have WADE meet him. MAC WRIGHT\nthen told CORCORAN that he hasn't heard from the people on the Board.\nWRIGHT says he talked to (SENATOR) SMATHERS and SMATHERS says he wasn't\nto do anything until BOWLES calls him; that CORCORAN is to call BOWLES\nand send him a check. CORCORAN told WRIGHT to call SMATHERS and tell him\nto see \"his friend\" and that CORCORAN wants to know if there is any\nquestion about that before he (CORCORAN) takes the case. CORCORAN says\nhe is willing to rely on SMATHERS' friends' suspicions. (They are\napparently talking about the Cancer Foundation Institute in Newark that\nCORCORAN is interested in)."
