- 2 - 9:40 AM TOM CORCORAN to JOSEPH PANUCH (Continued) JP - He had everybody on God's earth over there. I'm trying to make an appointment with him for Sunday because he's going down to Oak Ridge tomorrow and I'll know today whether I'll get that appointment. TC - Yeah, well, I'm going to try to see him today, too. O.K., I'll take care of him and you take care of GEORGE. I'll get the serial specialty number. 9:41 AM TOM CORCORAN told MISS ROBINSON (in GEORGE KILLIOM's office) that he wants JAMES KILLIOM's specialty serial number. She will have JAMES call CORCORAN or will get the number from his mother. 9:43 AM TOM CORCORAN asked Colonel HOWARD CORCORAN (New York City, Algonquin 4-9349) if he got the check. HOWARD said it is in the bank. CORCORAN told him that he can still be called for Allied Military Government for the next six months and that he couldn't tell him this in the cables. CORCORAN advised HOWARD not to tell anybody that he is out. HOWARD said he thinks he will go up and visit MABLE. CORCORAN said BEN (COHEN) will be back Monday. HOWARD will be down to see BEN soon. CORCORAN asked HOWARD about his terminal leave as he is having Colonel LUTZ for dinner Saturday night. HOWARD said it means about $1,000 and he would still be technically in the Army. HOWARD said he isn't worried about it. CORCORAN told him not to tell the world he is out or people will wonder how he got out. O.K. 9:50 AM TOM CORCORAN told Senator LISTER HILL that GEORGE KILLIOM's son is in the Air Corps and CORCORAN wants HILL to help keep him in the U.S.A. CORCORAN said he will contact HILL with additional information later. 10:00 AM TOM COR CORAN told Senator LISTER HILL that the boy's name is JAMES L. KILLIOM, #1105 AAFBU, Serial #19132444, in 3 years, no overseas service. CORCORAN said KILLIOM wants him kept in the U.S.A. at Palo Alto so he can go to Stanford. CORCORAN said it would be a good idea to help KILLIOM as he is a friend of theirs and a good New Dealer. O.K. 10:05 AM TOM CORCORAN told BURTON K. WHEELER that he heard an NBC radio broadcast this morning, quoting London, and they were celebrating CROWLEY's being out as now they would get what they want. CORCORAN said he thinks they should arrange to have a reporter like TROHAN pick this up and use it so we can get something out of the ruins. O.K. 10:08 AM TOM CORCORAN to A. T. HOBSON to discuss efforts being made to place MARION CAHILL in a position with FARTHING's agency. He said he (HOBSON) would get ROY BROWNELL after it this afternoon and find out what's wrong. HOBSON read from a letter of August 30th in which hewas told that although Miss CAHILL undoubtedly was of superior attainments they could hardly place her in a high salaried job unless she came up through the ranks. CORCORAN referred to the efforts he had made to help JOE PANUCH get a P-6 job for MAURICE CULTON (phonetic), "who used to have something to do with air fields." HOBSON referred to CULTON as being a nice enough fellow
