Washington, D. C. October 29, 1945 CO SUMMARY 5:31 PM TOM CORCORAN to ARTHUR HOBSON at RFC. CORCORAN said he talked to the new Senator-elect HOFFMAN, from Ohio and was telling him who was who in Washington. TOM told HOFFMAN that HOBSON was one of the big men around here. TOM asked who was going to do the hiring on the War Assets Corporation because "I want to get JIMMY TAYLOR in there and I want to get him in well. Can you help me? You remember JIMMY? He's a fellow I' used to paddle with down on the river years ago." HOBBIE said he would do the hiring and "they will be our employees". JIMMY is with the Re-Employment Administration in Commerce but he formerly was "down there on housing--he's one of the top men down there," said TOM. TOM will send HOBBIE a memo on JIMMY and HOBBIE will do his best. HOBBIE said the M. A. Hanley Company is ruining the land in Belmont County, Ohio. TOM said he had represented them at times. 5:46 PM GAEL SULLIVAN to CORCORAN. They will have breakfast together at 8:30 AM tomorrow at the Dodge Hotel. CORCORAN is bringing along "someone" he wants GAEL to meet. SULLIVAN says he has good news, said "BOB (HANNEGAN?) took me over to the President. I just left him." TC - Yeah. GS - I was able to give him that whole thing on ED (FOLEY?) (re Export- Import Bank). TC - Yeah. GS - He was very happy to get it. TC - Over to the President? GS - Himself: I gave it to him in person. TC - That is grand. GS - I just left him not 5 minutes ago. That's why I'm calling you right away. TC - Well that's swell. GS - He has the whole story. A couple of angles to it I can tell you at breakfast. TC - Yeah. (SULLIVAN is called to another line. He returns.) TC - No and what did the annointed one say about our friend? You'll tell me in the morning? GS - I tell you, I tell you, it's very good. There's another angle to it that's not so good and that's what T'll tell you about in the morning. TC - O.K. 8:27 PM ED FOLEY to TOM CORCORAN. EF - I thought I'd try to get BILL O'DWYER on the phone tomorrow at 9--I've got his private number. I could try and get WAGNER and ask him if he wouldn't call HANNEGAN. TC - You won't need it anyhow, but it would be a good thing to do. I'll be with GAEL for breakfast at 8.
