Two hundred forty-four rounds of enemy mortar and artillery fire fell on 3d US Division positions west and northwest of Yonchon, and one hundred seventy-nine rounds fell on 45th US Division positions west of Chorwon. 45th US Division elements observed an enemy company and three armored vehicles, two of which were moving eastward in the area 10 miles west of Chorwon. X US Corps: 7th ROK Division patrols engaged several small groups between the Pukhan River and the Yanggu road. Three hundred thirty-four rounds of mortar fire fell on Division positions on 10 January. Farther east, elements of the 7th US Division repulsed two small probing attacks east of the Yanggu road. Division patrols continued to engage small groups in the area. On the Corps right flank, elements of the 1st US Marine Division repulsed a small enemy group north of Sohwa and continued to engage groups of squad and undetermined size in patrol clashes north of Sohwa. (FECOM) (SECRET) NAVY: Naval and Marine aircraft flew 61 sorties, including 98 from BADOENG STRAIT on the west coast, 20 by Patrons, and 33 by shore-based USMC. East coast carriers replenished and conducted no flight operations. Aircraft from west coast carrier flew air cover for surface ships; weather prevented offensive sorties. 1st MAW flew 4 close support sorties for 1st Mar Div. (COMNAVFE) (SECRET)
