Taft has control of the organiza- -\ntion and will no doubt seat enough delegates to have\nhimself nominated.\nIn 1940 Wall Street took on Wilkie, an Indiana\nDemocrat and by the same methods that Taft is using\nat Chicago today kept Taft out of the race.\nWilkie was beaten by F.D.R. and Henry Wallace.\nHe was a bad loser. Cryed like a baby over a national\nhookup - figuratively I mean. The defeat was too\nmuch for him.\nIn 1944, the same big business gang took up Dewey.\nF.D.R. and I gave him a drubbing as bad as Wilkie's\nwas in 1940.\nIn 1948 Taft was sure he would be the nominee.\nAgain the same Wall Street gang gave the nomination\nto Dewey. He failed again in the campaign due to a\nspecial effort on the part of the Democrats to tell the\npeople the truth.\nNow Taft has control of the machinery and the\n\"kept press\" is yelling thief and robber.\nI'm very happy over the situation. But I'm not happy\nover the situation with which the Democratic Conven-\ntion is faced.\nThere are five candidates. Three from the South\none from Kentucky and one from New York.\nSenator Russell is an able and an intelligent man.\nHe has been Governor of Georgia and is now Senator\nfrom that great State."
