Address of Senator Harry S. Truman over Radio Station WOW, Omaha, Nebraska, August 6, 1938 For Release on Delivery. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN OF THE RADIO AUDIENCE: I am here on a very happy mission happy for me, at least. I not only have come to Nebraska because I like it and like your Governor, but I am personally very fond of Ed McKim, your Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor, and it is in McKim's interest that I am here. I am no stranger in Nebraska. I have a habit of coming to Nebraska. I was here as the guest of your very able Governor, the Honorable R. L. Cochran, at the Nebraska-Pittsburgh game two years ago, and I was Mr. McKim's guest at the Nebraska-Minnesota game last year -- and was that a game! I couldn't talk for a week. And I'm going to be here this Fall when the Cornhuskers kick off against the Pitt Panthers! I also visited your new ten million dollar Capitol building several years ago to absorb some of the ideas incorporated there for use in our new Jackson County Court House in Kansas City. So I would not want you to receive the idea that I am a total stranger here, attempting in any way to interfere with your State elections. This is not another "Iowa" deal -- my interest here is purely personal. Nebraska has a reputation of having great and efficient public officials. You have an outstanding Chief Executive. Joesn Senators. Omaha is very capably represented in the House of Representatives by the Honorable "Chick" McLaughlin. Mr. McLaughlin is not only noted as a capable Representative from this District, but is an outstanding Member of Congress and supporter of our TRUMAR is NARA great Democratic leader, Franklin D. Roosevelt.
