Tomorrow we face our first wartime
election which will decide who shall carry
on our nation's government f or the next two
years. Not for many years has an election
meant so much to each one of us.

We are in the midst of a world-wide
war to preserve the processes of free govern-
ment. It is not only appropriate but ne cessar
that, even in the midst of war, these processe:
go on. The right to vote is one of the great
privileges of our American democracy. It
is likewise one of the fundamental processes
of the Democratic way we are fighting to
preserve,
