Nr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
The American people are entitled to full information with respect to the
candidates for high office. You have a duty to tell the people of Ohie
the facte so they can choose whom they want to represent them.
If they are inforned we can roly upon then to suite a sound choice.
Informed Republicazas, and others who opposed the reelection of the President
in 1940, have announced their decision to support the President becanse they
realize the importance of making sure that the President's policy on foreign
affairs is carried out. That is why Republican Senator Joseph Dall of
Minnesota announced that ha would vote for and support the Precident and
would oppose Mr. Dewey. That is why Wendell Wikke's campaign mangers
and leading supporters are working for the reelecticn of the President
and the defeat of Ma. Dewey. %hat 1e why a nunber of prominent nawspapers
like the Nem York Times and the Oregon Journal. that opposed the reelecticn
of the President in 1940 when they had a choice of Wendell Wilkie, are for
his reelection in 1944 when their only alternative is Mr. Dewey.
Mr. Dewey has beon running for President for many years and it was most
aifficult to get him to tell you whether he was an isolationist or in
NARA
favor of a strong foreign policy.
