Secretary to the President
TO THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES:
With a view to receiving the advice and consent of the Senate to
ratification, I transmit herewith the convention between the United States
of America and Norway, signed at Washington on March 28, 1940, providing
for the disposition of a claim of the Government of Norway against the
Government of the United States on behalf of Christoffer Hannevig, a
Norwegian subject, and a claim of the Government of the United States
against the Government of Norway on behalf of the late George R. Jones,
an American citizen. This is the same convention which was transmitted
to the Senate with the message of the President of April 15, 1940, and
returned by the Senate in September 1940 in view of the political changes
effected through military operations in Europe subsequent to the signing
of the convention.
I transmit also for the information of the Senate the report by the
Acting Secretary of State regarding the convention.
