EXECUTIVE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT BUREAU OF THE BUDGET S. TRUALLAD WASHINGTON, D.C. NARA $35 APR 12 1946 My dear Mr. Latta: On April 9, 1946, you advised this office that H. R. 3796 "To quiet title to certain school-district property in Enid, Oklahoma, " had been received at the Whi te Hou se, and requested reports and recommendations as to the approval of the bill. The purpose of this legislation is to quiet title to certain school-district property in Jonesville, Oklahoma, a suburb of the city of Enid. The property in question was originally patented and conveyed by the United States to the city of Enid, with a provision restrict- ing the property to school purposes. The city of Enid, in turn, conveyed the property to the trustees of the school district in Jonesville. The latter now desire to sell the property, inasmuch as its size and location make it unsuited for school purposes, but have been advised that they can not give a good title to the land because of the provision in the original deed limiting the use of the property to school purposes. The bill would authorize and direct the Secretary of the Interior to issue such instruments of conveyance to the trustees of the school district as may be necessary to vest in them an in- defeasible fee simple title to this property. A facsimile of the enrolled enactment has been referred to the Interior Department, and its reply, recommending approval of the bill, is attached. I am authorized by the Director of the Bureau of the Budget to recommend that the bill be approved. Very truly yours, Assistant Director, Mr. M. C. Latta, Legislative Reference. Age The White House. Enclosures: Letter from Interior Department. Copy each of House. and Senate reports.
