Source Description

This item consists of one of the earliest known decorative reproductions of the original engrossed Declaration of Independence. Designed and executed by Benjamin Owen Tyler, a publisher and professor of penmanship in the city of Washington, DC, the reproduction consists of an artistic script of the title and text with facsimile signatures. The accuracy of the text and signatures was attested to by Richard Rush, Acting Secretary of State and his endorsement appears on the bottom left corner.
