- 2 00 Dangers to the U. S. resulting from this bad situation: 1. Favoritism of Cuban Government under Castro toward Communistio Soviet Union permits exploitation by the latter of Cuba's acces- sibility militarily speaking to American shores. Cuba now has missile and MIG bases openly supported by the Soviet Union, from which lethal destruction can be levied upon American soil. All this from only 90 miles away : IN PLAIN LANGUAGE, COMMUNISM IS NO LONGER A THREAT FROM ACROSS THE WORLD. COMMUNISM IS 90 MILES AWAY FROM THE UNITED STATES, 685 MILES FROM NEW ORLEANS: a) With Missile bases ready to launch weapons capable of destroying almost any city in the United States (less than one-half hour from New Orleans as a target) b) With Russian MIG squadrons on a "ready alert" basis, un- doubtedly armed with atomic weapons (less than two hours flying time from New Orleans as. a target). c) With a daily fleet of ships from Russia and her Communistic allies piling up supplies of war goods in Cuba. d) With over 200,000 armed men carrying modern, first-class weapons, plus arned reinforcements from other Communistic countries, including soldiers of RED CHINA and RUSSIA al- ready in Cuba. e) With an operating organization to move Communists into the United States and other American countries undetected in the stream of refugees escaping Cuba. f) With a giant operating organization with easy access to the Communists already planted in the United States and other countries of America whose sole purpose is destruction of our government, our way of life.
