that the reason he was trying to get in touch with Kohlman wãs
that Kohlman had written story about an individual known as
that #FARRY" was = hypnotist and had either taught of
had something to do with Octrald being taught how to use rifles
with telescopic lenses, also indicating that "FARRY" had a col-
lection of rifles: The caller Elso informed Stein that #FARRY"
had been in Dallas about two weoks prior to 11-24-63 and that
had boen corresponding with Oswald. According to 217.
mischell, the person making this tclephone call said his namo
was "JACK" - no last name given.
Subsequent to the interview with Donald Mitchell, several at-
tompts were made to contact Horman S. Kohlmane
At 11:00 p.m. on 11-24,-33 a telephone call was réceived from
J. Philip Stein. He said ho did not know "Jackion last namo.
He stated that the FBI had boon investigating "FARRY# several
woeks prior to 11-34-63; that #FARRY# is said to be an dirplane
pilot and allegodly has flown suppliés to Cuba, Stein stated
that "JECKM told him that #FARRY" was said to have been in
Dalles several weeks proviously; further, that "FARRY" is al-
legedly a homosézual. Stoin stated that ho was told by nJack"
that has been training some Civil Air Patrol boys in
the use of foreign made arms and allegedly trained Oswald in
the use of a rifle.
Stein statod that "FARRY# is said to be rather intolligent
that he allogedly has a PHD degree and is-a hypnotist, He
said that Herman S. Kohlman, a former newspaper reporter, had
written a story about #PARRY" abous two years a.go and that the
story had appeared in "The ines+Picayune", a Now Orleans
morning newspapor. Stein stated that, according to "Jack",
"FARRY" is alleged to have been communicating with Oswald
and that both were allegedly engaged in the same type of wörk.
He said that "FARRY N was believed to be living in the Louisiana
Avonuo Parkway area, New Orloans.
At 33:10 p.m. on 11-24-63 reporting agent roceived a tolephono
call from Herman S. Kohlman. Ho said that the was an Assistant
District Attorney for the Parish of Orleans and that he was
calling from the District Autorney: office. It was apparent
stated, that Mr. Kohlman "FARRY". He finally
was reluctant to talk about
however, that the District Attorneyis office was conducting
an investigation on their with regard to "parny"; that "FARRY#
is actually David Ferrie (U) M; E2; 195; 5-1l; wears a wig, having
suffered loss 02 hair in blotches). He said that Ferrio has
a
record at the New Orleans Police Dept. - Bureau of Identification;
