After taking my position, I looked to my left and aaw NBC Channel 5
TV eanora, mounted on tripod with rollers, it appeared that there were
three non pushing the ganera. one was later identified as John Alexander,
I sould not see the faces of these three nen because they vere
stooped over with haada downsam they rolled past ae, down a slight dem
eline, the ganera acted as if it wanted to tip over, and I ateadied
the sanera with ny lest hand. They stepped at the botton of the south
rasp and I heard ona of the mon say "Ve ean't get uy hero." They then
noved through the line of nevamen on the east side of the ranpe
Tvo or throe minutes lator, I heard soncone inside jail office say, Hore
he sones." I looked to my loft, tovard the jail office door, and ob
served Lt. Svain appear through jail orrice door. Thon approximately
10 to 12 feet behind Lt. Swain, Captain Fritz appearado Then approxi-
mately 5 ft. behind Captain Frits, I observad Detectivo Leavolle,
with vavald handouffod to leavelle' left arm, 1 also notiond a detes-
tive on Oavald's left holding Oavald's arm, but didn't noties who the
detestive was at that time.
As Leavelle and hia partner along with Oavald, appeared through the
jail office oor, the premo personnel begas to crowd forvard, taking
pietures and acking questions. *D14 yo sheot the !remident." etc.
ne onptain Vritz past ne, and as Leavelle, his partner, and Osvald
approached my position, I say a nan lunge from the growd of nevemen,
opposite ny position. As this lunged forvard extanding his right arn,
and firing aluost
Oswald foll buok a step and Leavelle, laid down on the floor.
At the instant the ahot vas fired, serveral officers, I knov
Cutehshav and Earrison, subdued the men who fired the shot, and took
the gun from hin.
I recogniged the nan that fired the shot as Jack muy. I had not
noticed Jack Rub, before he fired tie shot. I do know Jack Puby by
sight and have never seen him in the City liall.
I assisted several ther officers tako Jack into jail office,
where he va- searched. I did not help take him upstairs, but remained
as security at the jail orfice doote
I have salked to Federal Bureau of Investigation Agent Bookout in
regards to this incident.
