6153 THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON December 11, 1973 Dear Mr. Prime Minister: It was good to receive your letter of October 29 setting forth the impressions you gained of the People's Republic of China and the Chinese leadership during your recent visit there. Your observations concerning the Chinese attitude toward the matter of detente and the pursuit of world-wide stability were of particular interest to me. The agreements that you were able to reach with the Chinese on trade, on cultural and scientific exchanges and for the reunion of fami- lies seem to represent an encouraging step forward. Again, it was thoughtful of you to provide me with your review of the trip and its results. Sincerely, Richard Night The Right Honorable Pierre-Elliott Trudeau Prime Minister Ottawa, Canada Reproduced at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library DECLASSIFIED This document has been reviewed pursuant to Executive Order 13526 and has been determined to be declassified Dispatched 12/11/73 (rb) (via S/S)
