THE WHITE HOUSE

Dear Mr. Prime Minister:
You were most thoughtful to write to me about
relations with the Soviet Union and Premier
Kosygin's recent visit to Canada.
On the visit which I plan to make to Moscow next
May, I certainly agree with your point about
guarding against expectations which might not be
fulfilled. It is my firm hope, nevertheless, that
my trip will bring us farther into an era of broader
reconciliation through negotiations.
Mrs. Nixon and I look forward with great pleasure
to our visit to Canada. I am confident that our
talks will be of mutual benefit.
