S said they are doing cover story on VN thing and aftermath
and S really needs to straighten out some of their previous
concepts. K said he had been telling them that for months.
S asked whether there was any chance of seeing K to get a little
more of feel of it - how the two men got along, etc. K said
he would tell S what his problem is and he would like to ask the
President. A number of people have asked similar question
and Pres wanted K to talk to five or six newsmen on this subject.
K said we were planning to include S and wondered if S would
mind if that is the way it is done. S said he understood K's
time problem and any way K wanted to set up would suit him -
sooner the better however. K suggested aiming for 6:15 or
6:30 today - K will talk to Ehrlichman who was asked to do this
and will get back to S. K asked S whether including domeone
from TV would have any effect on S. S said no but problem is
each guy has his own approach.
K told S to count on later this afternoon - he will check with Ehrlichman
and call S back.
