Johnson: Reports that we have tell us there is no reason for
that conclusion.
Richardson: Point is -- that the Canadians think there is. If
there is a random shake tomorrow, it will be attributed by the
Canadians to the MillRoad quake and if there is any chance of
a heightened probability of a shake tomorrow.
Johnson: There is almost no probability.
( Commissioner Clarence Larson on the phone. )
Larson: I would like to put into the discussion that if we postponed for
24 hours and we shoot, and at that time there is a random tremor,
then, of course, we would not be able to ascribe that to the Santa
Rose quake. So, I think that we really can take advantage of the
fact rather than it being a disadvantage.
Packard: Let me give you our inputs.
Packard - Our people checked with five different seismologists and we
are under the opinion from all that there is no evidence of a concurrence
between a shake suggested by the Canadians. (Read from memo by
seismologists stating this fact). All of the people seem to concur that
there will be no correlation between California and northern area. We
have considered public relations and we believe there is no justification
to postpone the shot.
Johnson - If we should postpone for the Canadaans after refusing to postpone
for our own disidents, we have a tough political situation.
