Stu Alsop
10:30 a. m.
10/2/69
Alsop said he was sure K wouldn't be surprised that he had written a
memo of the talk he had with the President and K yesterday. He has
shown it to Oz Elliot and to a select few. They all agree that it is a
persuasive piece. Also was sending it over and asked if K would show
it to the President. He wanted to do a piece for print but if the Pres.
said no, not a word would appear. He would follow any ground rules
laid down. K indicated that the President never sees news media in
the first place.
When the President called for K that
day and disc overed Alsop was with him, the President asked to bring
him up.
Alsop thought this article he was writing was interesting and showed
things that press conferences and backgrounders don't bring out.
K said he would show it to the President and see what happens.
