S said he thought he ought to talk with the man closest to the subject
of US contractor personnel outside US. S said in his area he's con-
cerned with defense contracts and contractor personnel employed
overseas. He said we've had a number of things happening here in
a lot of K's and the President's interests on this subject. S said he
heard today that for some reason, there might be a need for figures
on this arising in the next week. K said we've been wanting it for
four months. S said he thought there had been some misunderstand-
ing --they're - now planning to have the information on DOD contracts
relative to American firms by November 7. S said there is an over-
all executive branch steering group concerned with bringing this
together. K said he knew about that. S said the group was concern-
ed with time constraints. K said well, the President wanted this 4
months ago, and he said if he didn't get the figures there would just
be a 50% cut. K said the only way for S to avoid that is to provide
the figures. K said if S could give him a firm deadline, K would be
able to help him out. S said he thought Nov. 7, but he'd call the
office tomorrow with a firm deadline. K said OK, he'd do his best
to protect S with the President.
