TELECON Mr. Kissinger Secretary Rogers 12/1/69; 10:45 p. m. R said he heard on the radio about the Clay - Acheson - Dewey appointment. K said it has been cancelled. K said the President has been wanting to see Dewey, Clay and Acheson for a general bull session certainly not on any decision. K further said that Ziegler saw it on his schedule and just announced it. R said together? ? Jesus Christ it really will be a bull session. K said at the first stage the President wanted to discuss intelligence programs with them -- that was about 6 months ago. Then he wanted to discuss SALT. K said frankly I don't know what he has in his mind now, but it is not concerning any decision. K said at any rate it has been put off until next week sometime. K said it was to be a 45 minute appointment and there was nothing particular one reason it came up was because Dewey came in and said Clay's feelings were hurt because he had not been asked to do anything. Clay thought the President might be mad at him for his supporting Rockefeller. R said that's an amusing combination. R said I can remember Clay and Dewey telling him to get offthe ticket. K said this meeting has no significance -- just cosmetic. K asked if he could read that thing to Bunker or should he just send R a copy. R said send me a copy we take of at 9:00 a. m. K said I will have it on the plane for you and just wire back any comments to me.
