D said I got a little confused. The President called me after his
press conference and talked about a variety of things. D said I
asked him if there were any papers or documents that we might
study to save time in the meeting on Thursday. D said the President
thought there were not but that he (the President) would arrange for
us to spend an hour with you before we meet with him. K said I
think it is a good idea and the President mentioned it to me just a
few minutes ago. K said I was going to call you. K said why don't
we meet in my office about 2:00 p. m. on Thursday. K said I will
give you a rundown on some things. D said I will take it up with
General Clay. K said I will take care of Acheson.
D said do you ever come to New York? K said I gave a talk at the
Union League Club last week. D said, well, sometime when you are
coming up, I would love to have you for a dinner party at our house.
K said that is very generous of you and I will be happy to do it.
D said if I understand it you are a bachelor and you know there are
a lot of ladies around town that are good company. K said I will
let you know. I will see you Thursday.
