K: of American men are involved.
P: or when these decisions involve the lives. Do you think that's better?
K: Yes, "when these decisions involve American lives. 11
P: "The lives of American men. 11 All right?
K: Excellent.
P: It is most impostant
The point made in the
paragraph might
be dropped, but it involves Johnson. That's a good line to leave in. A person
who has independent judgment may still tell you what you want to hear.
How
about this, say: "This is particularly essential" after the two paragraphs? Better?
K: Right. I agree.
P: I velieve a P should listen not only to those who tell him what he wants
to hear, but what he needs to hear
This is particularly important when the
lives of American men are involved. It fits better at the end of the whole thing.
R: Xxxx Yes, it's more logical. Now the only other point I have
P: page 10?
K: Yes.
P: Just a minute.
K: I just wondered whether you would consider dropping the last sentence
and end on up-beat note of previous one. I can see the point of keeping it in- - - I
don't feel strongly about it. Because it tells them something to do.
P: Or we could say
I don't think we can drop it with "I know there's
nothing more . 11 Got to say "I pledge" or something
I don't know.
K: I would leave it. It gives them something to do. It makes them feel they
are participating.
P: Or
