Telecon Secretary Rogers 12/22/69 4:57 p.m. R: On the Cyrus Eaton thing, he wants to see the President, me, or you. I think we should coordinate it; no more than one should. I am willing to do it if you want. K: You're welcome to it. R: He's a senile old windbag, but having him in the White House bothers me. K: He's It S If you think this doesn't escalate him to too high a level. The P shouldn't see him and I don't want to. R: Then only trouble with your seeing him is it gets him in the White Hosue. He says he's got a secret message from the other side. I don't want to see him, but I don't want anybody to say we didn't give a chance to someone who had a message. K: I can't see why they should give him a message when they've got Xuan Thuy in Paris. AR: I think I should tell him if he's got a message I'll see him and give it to the President. K: Would you call me and tell me what his message is? R: Yes, but don't hang by your toes. K: I just don't want you and Eaton ending the war without my knowing about it.
