P: Ziegler said that your briefing went very well; you laid it on.
We've gotten our point across. We have made these people stop and
think. We dominated them with the press conference Friday night and
your briefing, which will run XXIXS as a XXXXXXXX second story to the
riot but a strong second, and my visit to the Memorial will provide a
little color. David told me that last October and November there were
100,000 in the Boston Common and now there are only 15,000. He says
it's really been overestimated.
K: I think that's right. The students were looking for reassurance.
The faculty didn't provide the right leadership; faculty wanted to
purge themselves and join the protestors.
K: And the university professors were miserable throwing if off on
us.
P: We'll give Heard a nice little office, give him a Coca; Cola, and
put him away. I think you should know that Xxx when I didn't apologize
xx for saying "bums", , that was against all the advice of my staff. If I
had done that, I'd have been dead.
K: Absolutely. The time for a conciliatory gesture is after.
P: No, but you cannot apologize for something that is fight.
That reveals the weakness of our staff. They're SO overwhelmed by
these shit-asses that don't know what they're doing. We don't get
worried; when it's all over we'll survive. Okay, what are you going to do?
