TELCON Rogers/Kissinger 9:12 x am 6/2/70 K: How was your trip? R: It worked out well. The NATO meeting went especially well. K: It sounded good. I am having my minutes of the Sunday meeting typed up and I would like to go over them with you. You didn't miss anything. It would make you climb walls. Abrams has been going around Cambodia but he gave no a nalysis just where the units are the tactical situation. Then what we decided about the rule of tactical air at the NSC meeting. There was nothing. I will review it and go over it with you. About the speech tomorrow, I have not XX seen a draft but he wants to give a 10 min. accounting because the President thought that by the end of June these figures will be old hat. When I get a draft I would like to drop over and give it to you. R: Fine. K: If you could do a sentence or two on what you said at the NSC meeting about ARVN/Cambodian forces. If you could do that for the speech. R: What about the initiative? K: He was going to do a straight report on the military. On the second report he will do the diplomatic. R: That's good. What did I say? K: Something like what the Asians do to help each other is their business. You put it more elegantly. R: Do you want to come the end of the day or tomorrow mornign? K: Either the end of the morning today or tomorrow. R: Tomorrow is fine. K: Around noon? R: That's fine. Wait a minute. It will have to be a little earlier. I have to go to a joint session with Caldera. How about 11:00? K: OK. You are seeing Dobrynin today. That mostly the M.E.? R: Right unless he has something more to say.
