K: What a fickle girl you are. I was all set to do your program last week.
I cleared it with everybody and no one called me.
D: I talked to your good friend and my good friend Herb Klein and he thought
he should check a few things. I told him to talk to you and I said I would not
talk to you and mess up the channels.
K: I thought you were going to call me last Friday.
D: I was. I then talked to Herb and told him I talked to you and you were
considering it. He said he would talk to you first.
K: I am not sure I want to do it in September. I am doing something for
Mike Wallace.
D: Don; it tell me you are doing something for Mike Wallace! I played it
right and I get hurt. You can go on the Today Show not tomorrow, but the
day after tomorrow.
K: I had agreed to it for last week.
D: Herb Klein is the Director of Communications.
K: Let me tell you for the future, nobody is my director of communications.
No one determines what I go on except me and I check with Haldeman.
D: How about next Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday?
K: I will be on the West Coast.
D: When do you come back?
K: We will be back on September 9. I am very fond of you. I would have
done it for you.
D: Herb Klein told me you had pretty much agreed to us and
K: Next week is physically impossible because I will be on the West Coast.
D: It brings to mind Leo Durocher who said "good guys come in last" (sic).
I did what Herb Klein said -- I am going to call him.
K: I will do it after Mike Wallace.
