D: How are you?
K: Off to Mexico.
D: I'm off to Albuquerque. How was the visit with the boys?
K: I liked it. It was like old times.
D: I am sorry I wasn't there.
K: You wouldn't have learned much. Henry Brandon is going to East Germany
and is interested in some of the Pugwash types- - Reinike (sp? ) and Hess, the
idealogue. They always told me if I come they would open doors to me. I don't
want to write on White House stationery, but I don't mind your saying he's a
good friend of mine. He is going to be there September 28 to October 6. I
don't know if any of them are coming here; I don't know if they could get into
the country.
D: How long before this letter has to be written, I have a week?
K: Yes.
D: And the President or Vice President of the Academy of Sciences--
that was Reinicker.
K: Yes, he always pretended to be well disposed to me. He's going in
anyway, but they might introduce him around.
D: Okay. How is the new science advisor?
K: I don't know him. I met him once and had a good impression but
Baker (?) is enthusiastic about him.
D: And you have Elliot's spot filled?
K: Yes.
D: That looks good.
K: Yes, he's a good fellow. We are in one of our periodic periods of
calm. Just get the little bastards back in school to stir things up.
D: I could come down to touch base with you about Tuesday, September
15. I'll drop Dave a note.
