Ambassador Freeman/Mr. Kissinger
10:55 a. m. , October 17, 1970
K:
First, one official thing. The President says he will be
delighted to see the Prime Minister anytime that we can mutually
work out. He has a slight preference for California but recognizes
the problems. You give us some dates. He really is delighted to
see him any time. I take it the Prime Minister does n't care where
it is. Just give us two or three dates and we will work with them.
F:
He was intrigued when the President mentioned California.
K:
If it' S California, it has to be after Christmas. Otherwise,
we can do it here or consider doing it at Key Biscayne, but I don't
like that very much.
F:
I will give you some dates.
K:
Katherine kindly suggested doing something for tomorrow.
Unfortunately, my brother will be in town and I will be pretty tied
up.
F:
We have a free day and she thought it would be nice to see
you; a good occasion.
K:
There doesn't have to be an occasion and I'm sorry I am not
able to do it.
