K: The President got a little upset about some of the troop withdrawal
statements. He asked me to get in touch with Mel and tell him not to say
any more, but we are putting out a general directive so it isn't so pointed.
We want to retain some freedom of action.
P: I will try to get word to him before his next news conference.
